Arrival in Lohajung (Drive from Dehradun – 290 km / 10 hrs)

Stay:  Guesthouse
Route:  Dehradun – Karanprayag – Lohajung
Highlights:  Scenic drive through the Garhwal hills

Begin your journey with a long but beautiful drive from Dehradun to Lohajung, the base
village for Roopkund. You‘ll drive along the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers, witnessing remote
Himalayan hamlets.

Lohajung to Didna Village (Trek – 7 km / 5 hrs)

Altitude: 8,200 ft
Stay: Homestay/Camping
Highlights: Riverside walk, oak forests

Start your trek with a gradual descent to the Neel Ganga River, followed by a steep ascent
through oak and rhododendron forests leading to Didna Village. A peaceful Himalayan
hamlet where you‘ll stay in tents or homestays.

Didna to Ali Bugyal (Trek – 10 km / 6 hrs)

Altitude: 11,320 ft
Stay: Camping
Highlights: Ali Bugyal – one of Asia‘s largest alpine meadows

This is one of the most scenic days of the trek. You'll pass through thick oak forests and
emerge into Ali Bugyal, a vast expanse of green pasturelands offering panoramic views of
the Trishul massif.

Ali Bugyal to Patar Nachauni (Trek – 6 km / 4 hrs)

Altitude: 12,700 ft
Stay: Camping
Highlights: Meadows, sky-high views, solitude

A relatively shorter day that takes you across the alpine pastures to the campsite of Patar
Nachauni, located just below the treeline. The air starts to thin, and the landscape becomes
rugged.

Patar Nachauni to Bhagwabasa via Kalu Vinayak (Trek – 7 km / 5 hrs)

Altitude: 14,100 ft
Stay: Camping
Highlights: Kalu Vinayak temple, high-altitude terrain

The trail gets steeper as you climb to Kalu Vinayak, a small black stone temple dedicated to
Lord Ganesha. From there, descend to Bhagwabasa, the last camp before the summit.
Prepare for the most awaited day tomorrow!

Bhagwabasa to Roopkund & back to Patar Nachauni (Trek – 12 km /
8–9 hrs)

Altitude: 16,499 ft (Roopkund)
Stay: Camping
Highlights: Skeleton Lake, snowy climbs, spiritual aura

Start early (around 4 am) to make the final push to Roopkund Lake. The trail is steep, with
loose rocks and snow, but the reward is unparalleled. After exploring the lake and its
surrounding mystery, begin your descent back to Patar Nachauni.

Patar Nachauni to Lohajung via Bedni Bugyal (Trek – 13 km / 7 hrs)

Altitude: Descending to 7,700 ft
Stay: Guesthouse
Highlights: Bedni Bugyal, tranquil forests

Retrace your steps via Bedni Bugyal, another iconic meadow known for its spiritual
significance and majestic views. A long descent takes you back to Lohajung.

Lohajung to Dehradun (Drive – 290 km / 10 hrs)

After breakfast, drive back to Dehradun, bringing your Roopkund Trek adventure to an
end.
